Meesh came out to join me in Chiang Mai which was brilliant. We were rushing about on a new trusty steed and here’s a selection from the week. The little tableau below of putting the ‘Krathongs’ into the river was a special moment, and summed up the feeling (So difficult to capture the mix of mayhem and celebration)
A great festival. We found a few local celebrations (still huge but away from the tourist hoardes in the centre) it was brilliant.
Local villages, rice paddies, temples, waterfalls, marigold farms, elephants (extremely happy ones), markets and of course – plenty of excellent food!
I’ve just loaded a few favourites and will load a few more from the Wats in Chiang Mai itself (my favourite temple up on the mountain shown here) soon…..I’m off on a new 150cc motorbike to tour the northern highland mountains and valleys, Chiang Rai and the border town to Myanmar……
