KUALA LUMPUR

Stopped over to see my old friend Rhett, who’s been living here for the past 7 years, working at the British High Commission, although he’s not a spy!

Morning jetlag recovery blob, then out with the trusty Sony A7 and the 35mm. A brief taste of mass consumerism in the bling malls then my claustrophobia meant we headed out to the Malay region of town, in Kampong Baru.

The sun was just setting and all the myriad food and other stalls were getting going. With the backdrop of the twin towers and the ever-present skyscraping  it was an amazing oasis. This region is pure Malay and refreshed the soul, being able to sit, have a juice and some great food, whilst chatting to the locals out on the street. A different pace of life and an older established culture. Wonderful.

Day two saw a visit to little India and some pics with the challenging 15mm lens. More lovely food , both Indian and Malay.  Booked a ticket- Malaysia Air to Singapore (worth checking as mine was only £43 and 30kg baggage allowance – where I pick up my next scheduled flights with Qantas, via Melbourne and on to Launceston in Tasmania.

A bit bolloxed on Wednesday methinks! But well happy.
